HRSA Administrator Thomas Engels addressed Community Health Centers (CHCs) while they were in Washington DC advocating on behalf of their patients and their communities. Administrator Engels strongly praised CHCs, calling them the “real champions and saviors” for their impact on underserved populations across the country. He noted that CHCs exceed national averages by 7% in adherence for both hypertension and diabetes care, demonstrating leadership in managing chronic disease. He cited that a key reason for health center success is community-governed boards, with at least 51% of board members drawn from patients or local communities, ensuring services are tailored to real needs. He emphasized that cross-agency collaboration within HRSA is essential to delivering services efficiently and being good stewards of federal funding. We thank Administrator Engels for his continued support of CHCs. ... See MoreSee Less
