As reported by Berks Weekly:

Wednesday morning, the City of Reading played host to a significant gathering—the Advancing Health Literacy Organizational Partners Awardee Reception—in Council Chambers of City Hall.

This occasion marked the acknowledgment of the impactful efforts driven by the Advancing Health Literacy (AHL) Grant, funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH). The AHL Grant focused on alleviating the health burden of COVID-19 in underserved communities, with the City of Reading AHL team leading the charge in collaboration with six esteemed health-serving organizations.

The Awardee Reception spotlighted the dedication and contributions of the organizational partners: Berks Community Health Center, Berks Counseling Center, FaithCare, Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading Community Pharmacy, and Reading Hospital Tower Health.

Residents and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the commendable accomplishments of these organizations, recognizing their unwavering commitment to advancing health literacy within the community.

The reception served as a platform to delve into the initiatives undertaken through the AHL Grant and highlighted the positive impact on the health and well-being of Reading’s residents.
