Last year we received a grant from Capital Blue Cross to purchase a bilirubin monitor. An excess of bilirubin causes jaundice and the risk of this leading to other complications is high in newborns who do not receive timely and adequate treatment. Having this monitor allows our pediatric team to test infants on site, which saves them the time and stress of having to be tested elsewhere.Yesterday Sarah and Jill from Capital Blue Cross, pictured here with Alicia, our pediatric nurse, got to see the bilirubin monitor while touring our Rockland site.
